# for us it’s tradition.
Heritage
By using the term „heritage“ in our new and unique image campaign, we are emphasizing the connection between FORESTADENT, our home in the Black Forest and our production site in Pforzheim in that region. We are proud of our traditions, which extend back 115 years, and understand the obligations incumbent on the company as a result. We use the term „heritage“ both with respect to culture and traditions.
The „Goldmarie“ garb that we have created unmistakably represents us and the „Golden City“ of Pforzheim. It brings together all of the company‘s values, traditions and obligations, as well as our heritage. The word-image brand logo „Made in Black Forest“ makes a visual statement about the production site fland symbolically reflects our origins in the jewelry and watch industry.
To reveal a little secret – on closer inspection, the Black Forest is not actually black but more of a dark-blue color.

The Black Forest
Anyone taking a walk through the Black Forest in the spring, summer or autumn will find themselves in an enchanting sea of color. While the leaves on the trees are initially resplendent in a fresh, pale green, they then turn to a lush, summer-green foliage as they are already preparing for the colder months of the year, transforming into a explosion of colors by autumn at the latest. Wherever they look, observers will not think that the forest is particularly black.
If you set about discovering the origins of the „Black Forest“ name, you will need to look back to Roman times. Even during that period, this forest area was called „Silva Nigra“, a „forest in black“.
The highest German low mountain range at almost 1500 meters and one of the most-visited recreational areas in the country, the Black Forest extends from where the borders of France, Germany and Switzerland meet in the far south-west of Germany in a north-south direction to the city of Pforzheim, over 160 kilometers away.
In the mid-19th Century, the Black Forest almost solely consisted of scrubland and grassland, meaning that it required reforestation. This marked the arrival of the spruce trees, which are now emblematic of the Black Forest region. This species of tree was chosen to replace the felled trees because it is easily propagated and grows well even in barren areas. As a result, the Black Forest landscape was given its unmistakable „face“ that we are now familiar with.
